The 2011 Festival Youth Music Project
For the last five years the Scottish Traditional Boat Festival has carried out a programme of traditional music tutorials in the eight Banff Academy primary schools. These preceded the festival and culminated in highly successful concerts at the festival itself.
Festival chairman Roger Goodyear confirmed the Festival’s determination to provide opportunities for children (and adults) to discover and experience a broad range of traditional and cultural experiences including sailing, boat building, art and music. “Both with these projects and the Salmon Bothy our aim is to provide the area with year round benefits and the facility in which they can take place. The Festival really is now much more than simply a weekend event.”
